Born in Montreal, Quebec, Sheryl Abbey graduated from McGill University B.A. in English Literature and Clinical Psychology and a Master of Education in Educational Psychology and Counselling. After many years of managing open custody facilities for young offenders and socially, emotionally disturbed youth, she became involved in advertising sales. After completing a corporate examination for Val Pak, determining that she scored in the top 5th percentile in sales and retention, she moved from clinical psychology to a career in outside sales and marketing. Val Pak University was a blast in Florida and offered many valuable courses. Sheryl worked with The London Free Press for a short time and initiated FYI London when it was first intoduced in print.

Sheryl has always been politically active (running in three municipal elections) and involved as an advocate for those who can not speak out. She was an active foster parent for a few years providing a home to more than 20 children. She has a passion for the study of law, and the interpretation and enforcement of legislation at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
